One of the remaining restaurants in the region that serves great meals for the tummy and with a lot of love from the heart. VERY warm and personable, and with time-proved recipes. A great family tradition carried on by a great family.

Loved my meal here so much that I'm considering coming back for my bachelorette weekend in a couple of months. I'm a big fan of chicken parmesan and this version was incredible. How good was it? I finished the entire, massive serving and I usually take half my meal home with me from most restaurants. This was so good though that I couldn't stop. The meal also started with a choice of soup or salad and I enjoyed the salad with ranch. Loved the complimentary bread, especially the one with sauce, too. The restaurant has a nice, classy vibe and our waiter made us feel special and took fabulous care of us all night long.

Old fashioned with a hipster feel. Johnny Costa's food is exquisite. Costa used to be a Frank Sinatra's chef. Now passed, his son Vince is the chef. He told me that everyone made the linguini with clams too garlicky for Sinatra except his dad, Johnny. For four decades, this Palm Springs mainstay is still a family affair with Cousin Sal at the front reception p, Vince in the kitchen on the night I was there last. - and Johnny is well remembered for great Italian food cooked with fresh and delectable ingredients. I personally love the Steak Sinatra. I split it with my friend, and for an additional few bucks, you can add another soup or salad to the meal. The meals come with your choice. The salad is a green salad but unbelievably crispy. I can never get it that way at home! And do try it the continental way - Italian dressing with blue cheese dressing on top. A favorite combination I've always loved. For dessert. Well there's a lot to choose from but I especially love the spumoni ice cream. I was there once and got to talking with a couple sitting next to us, who said they drive to Palm Springs and Johnny Costa's just for that Spumoni. So that's when I first tired it and have been hooked ever since. Every year I attend the Palm Springs ShortFest and every year you will see me dining at Johnny Costa's one of the nights I'm there. Great menu, wines and cocktails. Hearty yet not heavy Italian fare, located towards the end of the main drag on Palm Canyon. Service is excellent. Though the restaurant has a lot of seating, booths and tables, the food is made to order so relax - chill - forgettabout the world for an hour and a half. Johny Costa's is the real deal.

Came here for the first time for dinner and the food was really really good very authentic Italian family style. Did have to wait about 30 min to get seated ( with a reservation). But the staff was very friendly and the food arrived fast and was very good. Will be back soon

Lasagna and chicken parm were fantastic. Sauce was very good. We came during restaurant week. The tiramisu was delicious. Very professional service, from the greeting at the start to the bus team. We had a booth, but the whole restaurant is very comfortable. We like everything about it

We came on a Tuesday night to a pretty full restaurant and got seated instantly. We got the chicken parm and linguine with clams. We also got the crème brûlée for dessert. Pros - elegant restaurant/nice and clean - complimentary bread with refills were offered (was decent, nothing to write home about) - I got the onion and garlic soup with my meal which was really good. Something different idk if I could compare it to anything I've had before. The chicken parm was also very good. My wife enjoyed her meal and rated it a 8.7/10. -the waiter was very nice and all the staff were very attentive and polite - I've never had crème brûlée before so I can't compare it to anything else but I thought it was great. Not too sweet. For a nice light dessert you can't go wrong. Cons - none Overall - 8.5/10

Johnny Costas is old school Italian with a modern and elegant twist. Probably one of the better Italian restaurants in the desert when you don't want to frequent the casual Italian spots and are looking for something slightly more fine dining. I'd recommend making a reservation and come a little early so that you can find appropriate street parking as this spot is popular and can get busy from what we saw. The ambiance and atmosphere is slightly upscale with white table clothes and gorgeous flower centerpieces so I wouldn't wear jeans but it also felt family friendly and was casual enough in some ways. I could just tell this was the perfect celebration type restaurant for larger parties or a cozy date night spot for many couples. They are kid friendly however and the restaurant was well spaced despite feeling cozy also. I liked the moody lighting and decor, felt elegant but relaxed at the same time which is hard to accomplish. Service was 5 stars. Our waitress was lovely and checked in with us an appropriate amount of times. She was on top of things and the bus boys also did a really good job of keeping waters refilled and clearing plates between courses. They run a tight ship here and the restaurant was relatively busy so glad to see that service is on point. The cocktails and drinks were all spectacular! From start to finish each course was perfection. Cocktails: I started with the dirty dean martini and it was perfect. Extra chilled and the homemade stuffed blue cheese olives were delicious. A strong cocktail for those that love a dirty martini. Aperol spritz's were also ordered at the table and they were enjoyed. For a starter you hands down have to get their house dinner salad (which comes with all pasta entrees). I know at an Italian restaurant you'd be inclined to order a Cesar salad but trust me their house salad was one of the best I've ever had! The lettuce and plate were super chilled it was so fresh and crisp. The homemade ranch dressing was a 5/5! Who would have thought an Italian restaurant would have some of the best ranch dressing I've ever had on a salad. I'd come back for my salad alone even though it was just a starter. The linguine with clams in a white wine sauce were delectable. The clams were fresh and tender small bites but the broth was out of this world. I probably ate a whole loaf of bread to make sure I soaked up the sauce. The noodles weren't as al dente as I normally would cook but still good. Just a classic delicious dish that wrapped up the 5 star review. The restaurant is a little more on the pricy side but you are paying for fabulous service and a delicious meal. It's well worth it in my opinion and I hope you give this spot a chance for your next dinner date on the town because it truly was magical.

We had an incredible meal at Johnny Costa's!! My chicken parmesean was cooked to perfection. The caprese was delicious, and all of the bites I stole from my date's shrimp dish were outstanding. The main dining room is both open and intimate. the volume is manageable, allowing for great table conversations. Our waiter was so helpful and fun, making the experience a great time.

Amazing food! I went there two nights in a row, and I was only in Palm Springs for the weekend, that's how much I like this restaurant! Service was excellent. I had a chance to meet the owner Sal, who had such a warm, greeting to all his customers! His understanding of the restaurant business I love for his customers, Prue said he had the right recipe for success, especially through Covid! I will go there every time I come to Palm Springs! The first night I had their special chili and Sea-bass, which was sautéed butter and garlic so good! The second night I had linguine clams another one of my favorites that was done perfectly! My sides Were sautéed garlic calamari -was so good, not greasy and perfectly coated !
